Breast Cancer in Young Women Education Initiative Launched

On April 7, CDC launched the Know:BRCA education initiative to build awareness about how BRCA gene mutations affect risk for breast and ovarian cancer, and increase knowledge of breast health and breast cancer among women, particularly among those under age 40 and those at higher risk for developing the disease.

Puerto Rico has the lowest incidence rate of new lung cancer compared with all other races and ethnic groups in the United States, according to a CDC study. The report also shows that Puerto Rico has a lower incidence rate of female breast cancer compared with U.S. non-Hispanic white and black women.
