CDC Recommends Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine for Children and Adolescents

Today, CDC Director Rochelle P. Walensky, M.D., M.P.H., endorsed the CDC Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices’ (ACIP) recommendation that Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine be used as an option for children ages 6 through 17 years.

CDC Recommends Moderna Booster at 5 Months

CDC is adjusting our recommendation for when people can receive a booster shot, shortening the interval from 6 months to 5 months. Earlier this week CDC made this recommendation for recipients of a Pfizer-BioNTech primary series and, after FDA action this morning, we’re extending this recommendation to recipients of a Moderna primary series.

CDC is updating our recommendation for when many people can receive a booster shot, shortening the interval from 6 months to 5 months for people who received the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine.

CDC Recommends Pediatric COVID-19 Vaccine for Children 5 to 11 Years

Today, CDC Director Rochelle P. Walensky, M.D., M.P.H., endorsed the CDC Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices’ (ACIP) recommendation that children 5 to 11 years old be vaccinated against COVID-19 with the Pfizer-BioNTech pediatric vaccine. CDC now expands vaccine recommendations to about 28 million children in the United States in this age group and allows providers to begin vaccinating them as soon as possible.
